rational mind: I have reasoned through mental symbolic logic that I should take this action

you’re not controlled by your rational mind. you are controlled by some other part of you. when you take actions that contradict the stable conclusions your rational mind has converged on, it’s because that other part of your mind doesn’t actually trust those conclusions.

This is because modelling the world with symbolic logic is really hard. Modelling the world with fuzzy reasoning, the kind our brains use, is much easier. There’s a name for this: intuition.

our fuzzy thinking is a superpower and is the reason we can function.

it’s a shame that we can’t override it when we objectively know that it is better to make a different choice than our fuzzy system ends up making.

it’s really a shame that our fuzzy brains can be hacked.

information diet is real. critically evaluate every data source you use. paradigms create reality.
