We won at &Hacks

&Hacks Writeup #
This weekend I participated in the Annual William & Mary Hackathon. I gave a talk about my chrome extension, Bombparty Defuser. I met three people who had played the game before, and one girl came up to me after and told me her friend was mad at me for ruining the game for everybody. It’s gratfifying to know I’ve had an impact on the world even if it was something stupid like writing a cheat for a game. About 30 people came to my talk and we had a good time talking about building chrome extensions and reading the funny (angry) reviews on the chrome web store.
I also made a project for the hackathon with my friends. This was our third hackathon working together, so we’ve pretty much solidified the roles and have really grown together into being able to work efficiently and effectively. This weekend we had to do live demos of our webapp, and I’m pretty proud of how well we were able to convey information.
To read about our project, go to our devpost page. I might talk to the school admin about making this project official. It’s crazy that something like this doesn’t exist already, so I feel like they’d be amenable to working with me to build it for real.
Anyways, we won the prize for best accessibility hack. Our app doesn’t really have anything to do with accessibility but ya know whatever that’s chill.
